Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - J.K. Rowling

Gilderoy Lockhart is so obnoxious that I was supporting Snape in the dueling club, I completely forgot about his Valentine's Day surprise which I am actually thankful for when reading about the dwarfs with wings.  Moaning Myrtle's bathroom is playing a large place in the book and is a nice piece of foreshadowing by Rowling in this book.  The entry of the secret diary and of Tom Riddle is both important in the book as well as the overall series, though during our initial reading we didn't know it at the time, foreshadowing on a grand scale.
